Congratulations to GEI’s Daniel Bannon, P.E., CFM, BC.PE for achieving his ASCE Board-Certified Port Engineer (BC.PE) board certification, the highest post-license board certification in port engineering. Dan was board-certified for his advanced expertise, advanced education and experience, and attainment of a specialized body of knowledge in port engineering.
Dan is the Coastal Practice Leader in GEI’s Portland, Maine office. His expertise includes inspection and assessment, planning, design, permitting, and construction of a wide range of coastal, waterfront, port, and harbor projects. He has led the design of piers and wharves, ferry terminals, marinas, seawalls, shore protection, dredging, beach nourishment, living shorelines, and flood protection, as well as bridges in coastal settings.
As an experienced structural engineer, Dan is proficient in design of concrete, steel, aluminum, timber, and FRP composite structures and foundations. He has advanced expertise in the evaluation of flood risk and sea level rise impacts on waterfront facilities and the implementation of resilient and sustainable design solutions. He also provides coastal planning for management and improvement of small craft harbors, marine facility masterplans, lifecycle analysis, and capital planning for waterfront infrastructure maintenance, repair, and replacement.
Dan holds a B.S. in civil engineering and a M.S. in civil/structural engineering from the University of Maine. He is a member of the Structural Engineers Association of Maine, ASCE, ASFPM, and is a licensed P.E. in Maine and Florida.
