New York City, NY (June 24, 2024) – Rooni Mathew, Ph.D., P.E., has joined GEI Consultants in New York City as a Senior Professional. Rooni brings 25 years of experience in climate change resiliency, marine infrastructure, sediment management, and contaminated sediments.
“We’re extremely excited to continue growing and enhancing our Metro NYC waterfront team with Rooni,” says Asher Peltz, GEI Vice President and NYC Branch Manager. “Rooni’s expertise will support our local practice and also help GEI deliver cutting edge modeling services across our service areas.”
In addition to developing numerical models, Rooni also develops desktop models and conceptual site models, leads planning for field monitoring programs, and conducts data analyses. He also regularly communicates with technical and non-technical stakeholders via presentations at public forums and publications in scientific journals.

Rooni holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Sediment Transport from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, a Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Duke University, and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Pune in India. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and a Task Committee Member working on developing a Manual of Practice on Navigation Channel Sedimentation.
